Chelsea's
Catering is a family business, started approximately 30 years ago.
It originated when Doris started preparing dishes for her friends
and family. This grew into small catering business on the side.
As the children grew older in the family, Martha, the only daughter,
began to help with the catering when she was home from college.
Martha attended Winthrop College, where her major was Interior Design.
(This has helped with her many talents in the catering field.)
After being encouraged to open a restaurant, the
business became combined with the catering. The restaurant was very
successful; however, it took away from the catering clients, their
family, and their churches. Since catering was Martha and Doris's
first love, they decided to close the restaurant and devote all
their time to catering. They have found that since they are able
to be with their family and devote their spare time to church and
community activities, they are much happier and the business runs
successfully.
Diversity
We pride ourselves here at Chelsea's Catering on making all of our
dishes from scratch. Our work is so diverse that we can't afford
to be specialized in any one area. However, we both are event planners,
wedding planners, wedding directors, and both of us do floral design,
as well as all the cooking for the business. The staff at Chelsea's
Catering is well-trained and capable of working all areas of the
business.
Catering is like show business; everything has
to be well-planned and designed to all come together just before
the curtain opens. Let Chelsea's assist with all your catering needs,
such as food, music, photography, floral designs, rental, and event
planning. We will work with your budget and make suggestions to
help you have an outstanding event, within your budget. Chelsea's
desire is to provide their clients with the best food, presented
in the most attractive setting, and with the best service.
Presentation
We deal mostly with china and crystal, mainly because we want the
event to be, presentation wise, the most appealing. We do, however,
offer paper products at no extra cost to you. The type of dinnerware
depends on the event. When we come to your event we bring all the
chafing dishes, table linens and skirting to make your buffet table
presentable. We have rental linens available for guest tables for
a small rental fee, and we need 7 days notice for the guest table
linens to be ordered in time. We will clean the serving area upon
leaving the event.
Payment
Payment is due upon receipt, unless arrangement for payment has
been previously made. We accept cash, check, or money order. We
also add a lower than customary service charge of only 15% and then
a 6% SC sales tax, unless a tax exempt form has been presented.
We require a 48-hour notice for cancellations. You can add to your
party's number right up to 3 days before your event. However, you
can not decrease the number after 7 days before the event. Prices
and menus are subject to change.
We are happy that you took the time to inquire
about our catering business and look forward to hearing from you
soon.
